RATTLER ONE HANDHELD INFRARED HEAT DETECTOR
The Rattler One is most sensitive to the range of temperatures emitted by the human body. It features simple, one-button programmable sensitivity that allows the user to choose one of four settings that best suits the current task. The two lower settings are used in relatively close proximity to the target, such as indoors or in dark alleys. The two most sensitive settings are used outdoors where long range detection is desired. With a working range of three to 500 feet, depending on environmental conditions, the Rattler One is ideal at locating subjects in situations where eyesight is simply not enough. How it works…. All objects emit thermal energy. This energy is not visible to the human eye, but can be detected by certain electronic devices that are sensitive to infrared energy. The Rattler One works by constantly measuring the level of this infrared energy as the user moves it back and forth in a sweeping motion. When the direction that the unit is pointed in moves across an object that is warmer or colder than the surrounding areas, a tiny computer inside decides whether or not the difference in temperature is significant enough to turn on the vibrating motor inside to alert the user that a substantial temperature change has been detected. The user must bear in mind that the Rattler One does not measure actual temperatures, it only recognizes objects that are of a different temperature than the surrounding area. Therefore, caution should be used when using the device to locate objects, persons or animals that may be considered to be a threat. You may have found a person, an animal or a power transformer installed by the electric company. You must use common sense and caution to visually verify the actual object found before taking action. Applications….. Because it can provide a signal by vibrating when a possible subject is located, it doesn’t require the user to be distracted from maintaining visual surveillance of an area.
